Tree of Ténéré is a new kind of art.

With 175,000 LEDs hidden inside 25,000 leaves, it's the largest interactive canvas ever created.

More importantly, we open-sourced the control software so that artists and technologists around the world can create stunning light art for this new medium. You won't believe the experiences they're creating for you...

Imagine lying beneath the tree at night, bathed in soothing classical music as the treetop lights dance to the melody. Artists Alex Green, Mark Slee, and others are creating breathtaking light shows for this new canvas.

Imagine a DJ, choir, or string quartet in the treetop, or a pianist down below, making beautiful music in concert with the canopy lights. Or imagine joining in group yoga, meditation, or sound healing beneath the tree. Join our mailing list for a schedule of unforgettable live events at Burning Man 2017 and festivals around the world.

And now imagine taking control of the tree lights yourself. You can interact with Ténéré by singing, chanting, and moving to create colors, patterns, and shapes in the treetop. Teams are working to integrate simple sensors like FitBits and Muse headbands so you can send your heartbeat and brain waves pulsing through the canopy.

In these and other ways, we hope that the Tree of Ténéré - like its namesake - brings travelers and wanderers together for new kinds of rituals...and for moments of transcendent oneness with nature and each other.
